How The Media´s Fictional War on Terror Will
Keep us at September 10th Until the Real Dirty Bomb Hits

Two months ago, June of 2002, the heads of the FBI and Justice Department proclaimed to America, through every mainstream media loudspeaker that would broadcast their words - which was most of them - that they had just arrested a "high ranking Al Quaeda terrorist" and thwarted a plot to explode a "dirty bomb" in a large American city. The truth was that the entire story was bullshoot and everyone responsible for putting it out did so with the conscious purpose of conning the American people.
A typical example of the kind of bullshoot I´m talking about was put out by the Associated Press on Monday, June 10, 2002:
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. government has arrested an alleged al Qaida terrorist who plotted to build and detonate a radiological "dirty" bomb, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Monday. Ashcroft said Abdullah Al Mujahir was in the custody of the U.S. military and being treated as an enemy combatant, suggesting plans for the first military tribunal of an alleged terrorist. The attorney general, who was in Moscow, made the announcement through a television hookup. Ashcroft said Al Mujahir, also known as Jose Padilla, was arrested May 8 as he flew from Pakistan into Chicago O´Hare International Airport.
"We have disrupted an unfolding terrorist plot to attack the United States by exploding a radioactive dirty bomb," Ashcroft said.
Ashcroft said the governments suspicions about Mujahir´s plans came from "multiple, independent, corroborating sources."
The Attorney General said Mujahir had served prison time in the United States in the early 1990s, then traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan during 2001 and met with Al Qaida officials. Ashcroft said Mujahir "trained with the enemy, including studying how to wire explosive devices and researching radiological dispersion devices."
Ashcroft said Al Qaida apparently believed that Mujahir would be permitted to travel freely within the United States because of his U.S. citizenship and because he carried a U.S. passport.
The probable target of Mujahir´s plans to detonate the bomb was Washington, according to a U.S. official speaking on condition of anonymity. The plot was not believed to have passed the early planning stages.
Another government official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, said the intelligence that led to Mujahir´s arrest came from captured Al Qaida leader Abu Zabaydah during recent interrogations.
The official said Mujahir is a former Chicago street gang member who served time in prison in the 1990s, converted to Islam and met with Al Qaeda leaders in 2001 before returning to the United States.
Mujahir will be detained by the U.S. military as an ´enemy combatant,´ the Attorney General said, setting up the first military tribunal since the Sept. 11 attacks.
´We have acted with legal authority both under the laws of war and clear Supreme Court precedent, which establishes that the military may detain a United States citizen who has joined the enemy and has entered our country to carry out hostile acts,"e; Ashcroft said.
The media barrage that followed was enormous. The Department of Justice and FBI public affairs offices worked overtime pushing the buttons of every media shill on their collective Rolodexes. Every mainstream media outlet imagineable broadcast the FBI claims of thwarting what promised to be the worst terrorist act in history. You couldn´t escape the story: CNN, MSNBC, Larry King, Geraldo, Court TV. On Sunday, June 16th, the New York Times, not to be outdone, broadcast in a huge 3 page article the arrest of Jose The Terrorist as "A TERRORIST ACT THWARTED." The buzz headline was "FBI THWARTS DIRTY BOMB."
You could run but you couldn´t hide from the story that most experienced law enforcement insiders recognized as absolute bullshoot from the moment it hit the press. It´s purpose should be obvious: Thank you Lord, just like on The FBI Files, they saved us. Yes oh Lord, give em all the power and money they need to do the job. Patriot Act is the least we turkeys and civilians could do to support em.
In the mean time, my own sources, fearful of their government careers, were contacting me because I am a lot cheaper than a psychiatrist and won´t - as many pencil head reporters do - blow their cover. What they were telling me was something my own experiences in Human Intelligence and covert ops had already led me to suspect: that the whole thing was just an FBI/DOJ scam to bolster the Bureau´s badly damaged image, insure that it lost none of its powers and that it received an undeserved increase in budget.
All agreed that the bottom line damage coming out of a fraud like this was the convincing of the American people that our national security was actually in good hands, as opposed to the Keystone Kops reality of the bureau.
I listened, took notes, made a few inquiries and June 17, 2002 went on the air and the expertwitnessradio.org web site with the following story. If you were a member of the mailing list you received it; maybe you even heard the show:

I followed this broadcast a week later with an interview of 25 year veteran FBI agent Hugo Rodriguez, who agreed entirely with the assessment that the whole story was a fraud, and a dangerous fraud at that. Dangerous because if mainstream media outlets with the power of a New York Times succeed in convincing the American People that our national security is in good and capable handsthrough the ever willing media shills - when in reality all these guys can do it put out a Tom Clancy, fictional war on terror - then our wet noodle congress will continue to do nothing but throw money and Draconian laws at the problem, and we will remain at September 10, 2001 until the next real horror.

Feds: Padilla´s not dirty.
WASHINGTON - A Brooklyn-born man touted by Attorney General John Ashcroft as a significant terrorism figure who planned to detonat a ´dirty´ bomb has no ties to Al Qaeda, law enforcement officials say. An FBI probe has produced NO EVIDENCE that Jose padilla was preparing an attack and little reason to think he had any support from Al Queda.
